The technical page is in preparation. It will describe the approach in detail: the assets drawn from Star Wars: The Old Republic, the original audio of both games, and the way the original game logic is carried into the engine of Baldur’s Gate 3 without an editor.
Seven and a half minutes of the remake running, captured in one take — no cuts, no retouching, nothing added. The one change from what came off the machine is the audio level, for the reason below. It opens on the menu and plays through the crawl and the first scenes aboard the Endar Spire.
About the sound. The audio has been levelled to a normal web loudness, so you should not need to turn anything up to hear the opening — which is what used to make the rest of it dangerous. What levelling cannot remove: at 1:27, after the few seconds of silence that follow the traditional a long time ago… card, the Star Wars fanfare comes in. Silence to full orchestra is still a jump. It now lands about 6 dB above the rest of the video instead of 11, but if you are on headphones, that is the moment to be ready for.
Nothing downloads until you press play. 720p is the safe choice on a phone or a hotel connection; 1080p is worth it at home. Switching keeps your place.
